Two hundred and twenty-two artists have work sitting on the Moon, etched onto metal disks next to the Bitcoin white paper. Dallas Santana of Space Blue told the story at Mining Disrupt Miami 2024, in June 2024, with Scarlett Arana, co-founder of the Miami crypto art community Bitbasel.

A year before, Santana had used the same stage to announce a time capsule bound for the Moon. In Miami he reported the result. The payload launched on February 15, 2024 from the Kennedy Space Center on a SpaceX Falcon 9, and landed on February 22. In his words: "On February 22nd, we made history with the first landing for the United States since 1972."

The capsule is Space Blue's Lunaprise Museum, carried on Odysseus, the Intuitive Machines lander. Santana said its metallic disks hold an inscription of Satoshi, the Bitcoin white paper, early Ordinals projects, characters from Stan Lee's final legacy, and his own dog, Marshmallow. He said the structure is built to last over a billion years, and that the point is a backup of human culture kept off the planet.

Then came the ask. Santana said Space Blue planned to run the first Bitcoin mining node on the Moon that fall, with hardware built for a 13-day mission and two-way communications with Earth. What the company did not have was a miner. "We need a mining partner to work with us on that," he said, and he told interested companies the next mission would close to partners in 30 days.

Arana followed with the art side. Bitbasel runs a marketplace for Ordinals, inscriptions on Bitcoin's base layer, built with Space Blue on the Internet Computer Protocol. She said 222 artists are part of the Lunar Prize, and that their work will be inscribed through the marketplace for provenance and permanence. She asked the miners in the room to back the artists.

Santana also announced a music partnership with TuneFM, a blockchain music platform, on a project called Summer of Love. He said the capsule holds unreleased Jimi Hendrix songs along with Bob Marley and Elvis Presley, and that a certified one-of-one copy of the metal plate that went to the Moon would be auctioned later in the year. The name comes from 1969, when Woodstock followed the first Moon landing that summer.

The session reported the node as a plan. This report does not confirm whether it flew.

When Santana and Arana spoke in June 2024, Bitcoin traded at $61,272. On October 17, 2026, it was at $81,466.

The full story and the session video are on the Mining Disrupt magazine at miningdisrupt.com. Mining Disrupt 2027 runs March 22 to 24 in Irving, Texas.
