Is Crypto a Scam? Mining Disrupt News Surge Answers
A video with the Bitcoin logo and the word scam on its thumbnail promised to prove that crypto is a brilliant scam. On the last Mining Disrupt News Surge of 2025, uploaded December 29, the host played it back at one and a half speed and answered it, one claim at a time. He opened with the market. Bitcoin was at eighty seven thousand three hundred forty dollars when he recorded that week. On the upload date it closed at eighty seven thousand four hundred ninety one dollars. On October 26, 2026 it was eighty thousand and fifty five dollars. His first objection came seconds in. The thumbnail says Bitcoin, but the narration talks about crypto. As he put it, Bitcoin and crypto are not the same thing. Bitcoin can sit under the crypto umbrella, he said, but a case against tokens, exchanges and promoters cannot simply be pinned on Bitcoin. The video opens with a joke about a cousin pitching get rich quick schemes while working the closing shift at Applebee's. The host did not laugh along. People have jobs, he said, and they should be able to trust that the time and energy they put into that work will not be stolen from them. Then came the history. The video jumps from 1983 to 2009 as if nothing happened in between. The host said it was completely blowing past twenty odd years, thirty years of research and development and trial and error. The cypherpunks, he pointed out, were not sitting around doing nothing. On volatility, the video compares about sixty percent for crypto with about fifteen for the US stock market. His answer, borrowed from Michael Saylor, was that volatility is vitality. A forest floor full of moss and new growth looks like constant upheaval because it is alive. Death Valley does not change much, because not much lives there. The video holds up FTX as proof that the whole industry is fraud. The host said Bitcoiners saw the warnings from a mile away and talked about them for months. Nobody was terribly surprised when FTX blew up, he said, not in the Bitcoin world. He closed on his own doubts. He is convinced the dollar and fiat money do not let him store his time and energy in a form that cannot be corrupted. Is he as convinced that Bitcoin is the answer? He said he does not know that it is, but he has not found anything better, not real estate, not gold, not collectibles. Until something proves better, he is sticking with Bitcoin, and he asked anyone who thinks they know how it will fail to make the case.
