DMG Blockchain's TerraPool
At Mining Disrupt Miami 2024, DMG Blockchain COO Steven Eliscu pitched TerraPool, a carbon neutral pool, and a plan to sell block space to institutions.
A pool that does not want to be the biggest. That was the pitch from Steven Eliscu, Chief Operating Officer of DMG Blockchain, at Mining Disrupt Miami in June 2024. Eliscu introduced TerraPool, which he called the first carbon neutral mining pool. In his words: "The whole idea with TerraPool is not necessarily to be the biggest pool." The goal, he said, was to be big enough to reliably produce block space for a wider plan.
DMG mines blocks with carbon neutral energy, and a second business, Core Plus, sells software and services to fill those blocks with transactions from financial institutions and content creators. Institutions, he said, want Bitcoin they can move with no added carbon and no mixing with bad actors. For them, DMG set up a trust company and expected a qualified custodian license before the end of 2024. Because the Bitcoin ledger records where every coin came from, miners on TerraPool receive what Eliscu called green Bitcoin.
He said DMG hoped that, over time, green Bitcoin would command a premium. The pool pays on FPPS, and he said clients may share in revenue from deals such as DMG's announced collaboration with PayPal. At the time, DMG expected its own hashrate to grow from about one exahash to one point seven by the end of July 2024. When he spoke, Bitcoin traded at sixty-one thousand two hundred seventy-two dollars.
On October twenty-seventh, 2026, it was seventy-nine thousand five hundred ninety-five dollars. The full story is on Mining Disrupt at miningdisrupt dot com, and more like it play around the clock on Bitcoin Radio.
