Daniel Wong says you are not mining for today's prices. Wong, co-founder and president of EDGE Data Solutions, gave that advice in an interview at Mining Disrupt Miami 2022, held July 26 to 28, 2022. He describes EDGE as a total solution provider, from power down to the miners, that partners with an operator through the whole project. He got into mining in 2016, running operations for publicly traded companies that wanted to start mining, and said that work showed him how far the infrastructure lagged behind the technology.

In his words, "So that's how we started to look at immersion cooling as a better way to service our clients." At the conference, EDGE was looking for miners interested in immersion cooling, or unhappy with their air cooling, who want to be more profitable and more renewable. His advice to newcomers was to understand what mining is. Miners mine for the future of Bitcoin, he said, so they need to believe in the coin and be well funded enough that they never have to sell at the wrong time. "At the end of the day, you're mining a commodity." He compared it to holding a stock you expect to rise, and told people to do their homework and understand what matters to them before they pick a partner.

When he spoke, Bitcoin traded at $21,268. On October 20, 2026, it was $81,859. The full story is on Mining Disrupt at miningdisrupt dot com, and many more like it play around the clock on Bitcoin Radio.
