Intelliflex’s Octopod: From Immersion Mining to AI Data Centers

Chuck L’Ecuyer traced Intelliflex from a 2019 prototype to 430 MW of immersion mining systems, then launched the Octopod for AI and HPC.

In 2019, Chuck L’Ecuyer walked through a crypto mining site and came away with one thought. In his words, “I said to myself, there's got to be a better way.”

L’Ecuyer is the CEO and founder of CS Corporation, home of the Intelliflex line of products. He told that story at Mining Disrupt Fort Lauderdale 2025, held March 25 to 27, 2025. Bitcoin traded at $87,393 on the first day of the event. On October 19, 2026, it was $82,691.

The better way, for Intelliflex, was liquid immersion. The company tested single-phase and two-phase immersion in 2019 and picked single-phase for its cooling capacity at high compute density, its cost of production, and its simple operation and maintenance. In 2021 it opened a new headquarters and manufacturing facility, with capacity of one gigawatt a year, and finished its first large deployment, 60 megawatts.

Immersion-ready miners arrived in 2022, and L’Ecuyer said that helped push the company's sales. A second generation of its immersion data center followed in 2023 and a third in 2024, with better flow distribution, a new pump, quick-change injection nozzles and a busway for power.

At the time of the talk, Intelliflex counted 430 megawatts of systems deployed worldwide and 500 megawatts in its backlog. A new manufacturing and service site in Texas adds 2 gigawatts of manufacturing capacity. Its systems run in cold, humid New Brunswick, in high-altitude Wyoming, in the desert heat of Abu Dhabi, and in South Florida, where one site withstood two hurricanes.

Then the talk turned to a new product. L’Ecuyer said, “in response to market demand, we are proud to announce our newest line of product, the Octopod.”

The Octopod is a Tier 3 data center for AI and high-performance computing, built from pre-engineered modules. Design work began in 2023. It launched at the Yotta show in Las Vegas in 2024, the same year Intelliflex signed an OEM partnership with World Wide Technology. In 2025 came a 300-megawatt agreement with TerraSys.

Each module does one job. Switchgear takes in utility power. A unit substation called the MegaBox handles medium-voltage transformation and metering. A diesel rotary UPS replaces battery banks by combining the generator and the UPS in one unit. Chillers with roof-mounted dry coolers carry the heat away, three of them for N plus 1 redundancy, and the compute module holds the server racks and immersion tanks. The configuration he showed scales up to 100 megawatts.

L’Ecuyer was open about where the Octopod came from. Its dry coolers are the same ones Intelliflex uses on its mining systems, and the company repackaged many of its existing components into a different system.
