Have a price in mind. That was the advice at the center of the Mining Disrupt News Surge for Monday, May 12, 2025.

Bitcoin was back over $100,000 that day. The host put the market cap at about $2 trillion, against about $23 trillion for gold, and said Bitcoin still had a little more than a 10x to go to pass it.

Then he turned to a post that mocked the rule that you never sell your Bitcoin. If holders mean it, the post asked, why not send their coins to a burn wallet and stop worrying about an $8 wrench? The host's answer was that never usually does not mean never. In his words, "my message is have a price in mind, have an idea of what it is you're looking to do." If the price ran to $200,000, $500,000 or a million dollars and a holder's net worth went up 10x or 15x, he said, a holder without a plan would face some really difficult questions.

He called the bigger picture a game of chicken between generations. Boomers own the homes, cars and businesses younger people want, and in his view they do not have time on their side. Holders in their 30s or 40s who look after their health will likely outlive people in their 70s or 80s, who will want money to travel and see family while they can.

There was news from New Hampshire. The host said the state had made a strategic Bitcoin reserve law, the first state to do so, and he tied it to PorcFest, an event where people were paying in bitcoin from the very early days.

For miners, he had what he called basically free money, with a caveat: find a landfill. He read a post from Daniel Batten, who said he was in talks with the owner of a landfill whose emissions were on par with Estonia, Cyprus or Nepal, and whose energy was stranded.

He closed on a post from Tyler Campbell, who wrote that developers of a $2 trillion protocol were debating in person while the broader tech industry was nowhere to be found. The host's own last line was that, even over $100,000, most of the world was asleep at the wheel.

The episode also plugged the next Mining Disrupt Expo, moving from Florida to the Irving area of Texas, which the host called the home of Bitcoin mining.

Bitcoin was $103,730 that Monday. Today it is $80,673.
